What We Help With

We support a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety (generalized, social, school-related, & other anxiety)

  • ADHD and attention-related challenges

  • Emotional regulation (big emotions, anger/frustration, meltdowns)

  • Behavioural concerns (oppositional behaviours, impulsivity)

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Stress and burnout

  • Perfectionism

  • Life transitions (school changes, family changes, developmental shifts)

  • Parenting support and guidance

  • Social difficulties and peer relationships

Our work is always tailored - no two clients or families are the same.

Our Approach to Counselling

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.

Our counselling approach integrates:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion-focused strategies

  • Strength-based and neurodiversity-affirming perspectives

  • Therapeutic Play

  • Executive functioning and skill-building supports

  • Parent coaching and collaboration

We also recognize that many individuals we work with have learning differences, ADHD, or are gifted, and we tailor our approach accordingly.

For children, therapy is often interactive and may include play-based strategies or tasks, visuals, and hands-on learning. For teens and adults, sessions focus on insight, practical tools, and meaningful change.

Approaches by Age

Children

When a child is struggling, it impacts the whole family.

We work closely with parents to:

  • Understand what’s driving behaviours (not just managing them)

  • Build effective, realistic strategies at home

  • Support emotional development and regulation

  • Reduce conflict and increase connection

Parent involvement is a key part of the process, and we ensure you feel supported every step of the way.

Teens

The teen years can be complex and overwhelming.

We help teens navigate:

  • Anxiety and social pressures

  • Academic stress and motivation

  • Emotional ups and downs

  • Identity and self-confidence

Our goal is to create a space where teens feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard while also helping them build skills they can carry forward and apply independently.

Adults

Adults often come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward.

We support adults with:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Burnout and stress management

  • ADHD-related challenges

  • Emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Navigating relationships and life transitions

Sessions are practical, collaborative, and focused on helping you create meaningful, sustainable change.

Our Wonderful Counselling Team

Meet Ellaina

Title: CCC-Q

Works with Ages: 12 - adulthood

My name is Ellaina, and I am passionate about supporting youth, adults, and their families on their mental health journeys! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics and I recently completed my Master of Counselling degree. Through my experience with Kids Help Phone, I’ve gained valuable insight into the challenges people face across all stages of life. My current role as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary has deepened my commitment to building strong, trusting relationships with children, youth, and the adults in their lives.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported. In my work, I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where people of all ages can explore their emotions and grow. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect for each person and family's unique story. I also believe in the power of laughter and in making space for the full range of human emotions.

I will be joining Embark Psychology in administering test measures for assessments.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy hiking, travelling, trying new crafts, and spending time with my partner and our dog.

Meet Alexandra

Works with Ages: 4-19

Alexandra is passionate about creating a space where children feel safe, understood, and free to be themselves. Her goal is to make counselling feel comfortable and fun, using play-based approaches alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help children learn and grow in ways that feel natural to them.

Alexandra has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children and those with more complex behavioural needs, and particularly enjoys working with anxiety and big emotions. She focuses on making feelings and skills tangible and easy to understand, helping children build confidence and feel successful in their progress.

Building a strong, trusting relationship is at the heart of her work. She also offers parent coaching and support, helping caregivers feel more confident in navigating challenges at home. In addition to counselling, she provides academic assessments to better understand each child’s unique learning needs.

Alexandra holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is currently awaiting registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their two young children.

Both Ellaina & Alexandra have finished their education and hours collection. They are currently waiting for our Regulatory Body to meet and approve their Registration.

While they wait in limbo, they can offer low-cost/ accessible counselling for $120 per 50 minute session under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist. Although they are very capable clinicians who can work independently, continuing to have a supervisor means that we can still direct-bill to insurance for you while they wait to be Registered.

** Prices will be adjusted once they have completed Registration, however, we will continue to offer sliding scale to those in need
